Some Android users have received notices that Google verified their phone number. When automatic phone-number verification is enabled, the number may be associated with multiple Google Accounts signed in on the same device--including accounts added later. This can affect people who prefer to keep personal, work, or other accounts separate.
Review automatic verification
On Android, open Settings and look under Google or Google services and preferences. The option may appear under All Services, then Privacy & Security and Phone number verification. Menu names can vary by device. Turning off automatic verification can help prevent future account associations.
Check accounts already linked
Changing the setting does not remove numbers that may already be connected. Review the Phone section in the personal information settings of each Google Account signed in on your device, and remove any number you do not want associated with that account.
Also check how each account uses the number. If it is set up for two-step verification or another Google service, such as Google Pay, those settings may need to be updated separately. Regular account reviews can help users make more informed choices about how their contact details are used as digital services evolve.
