Google is bringing its Personal Intelligence feature to Gemini in vehicles, allowing the assistant to use information from selected Google services to provide more context-aware help while driving.
The feature connects Gemini with services such as Gmail, Google Calendar, YouTube, Maps and Google Search history. For example, while navigating to an airport, a driver could receive an update about a flight delay listed in their calendar.
Opt-in assistance for the road
Drivers can ask questions in natural language and follow up without repeating the context. They might ask for a flight's gate and then check whether the departure time has changed, with Gemini responding to both requests.
The rollout begins through Android Auto, which connects a phone to a vehicle's infotainment system. Cars with Google Built-in are expected to receive the feature in the coming months.
Personal Intelligence must be enabled by the user. Drivers can switch it off at any time and choose which apps to connect, giving them control over the information Gemini can use.
Bringing selected digital services into the driving experience could make in-car assistance more useful, while offering a glimpse of how personalized AI may support everyday journeys.
