Google Health Adds More Control Over AI Coach Insights

Google Health now lets users hide AI Coach insights or turn off the coach entirely, offering more flexible control over personalized wellness guidance.

Google Health Adds More Control Over AI Coach Insights

Google Health has introduced new settings that give users greater control over how its AI-powered Health Coach appears in the app. The update allows Premium users to reduce proactive guidance while keeping useful AI tools available on demand.

Choose a quieter health dashboard

The Health Coach can provide personalized summaries around sleep, workouts, recovery and daily activity. For users who prefer a cleaner, data-focused experience, the app now includes a dedicated option to hide automatic coach messages.

To disable these proactive updates, open the profile menu and navigate to Google Health Settings, then Coaching, and select No Coach Insights. This removes recurring coach summaries from the main screen and stops related notifications.

Importantly, this setting does not remove the platform's wider AI capabilities. Users can still select Ask Coach whenever they want tailored guidance, while chat-based tools for recording nutrition, workouts and progress remain available.

Turn off the coach completely

Google has also streamlined the option to deactivate the Health Coach altogether. In Google Health Settings under Coaching, users can choose Turn off Google Health Coach.

When the coach is disabled, the app no longer creates new personalized plans, recommendations or health-trend summaries. Conversational questions and chat-based progress logging are also paused. Previously generated summaries remain visible, and the feature can be restored whenever the user chooses.

The update reflects a broader direction in digital wellness: AI tools can be most valuable when people decide not only what assistance they receive, but also when and how they receive it. More flexible controls could help health platforms become more personal, adaptable and user-led in the future.
