Google Brings AI Search Ads to International Markets

Google is expanding advertising in its AI-powered Search experiences to international markets, adding a new global dimension to its AI-driven ad business.

The announcement came as Alphabet reported $127.6 billion in third-quarter revenue, up 25% year over year. Google Search revenue rose 12%, compared with growth of 17% in the previous quarter and 19% in the first quarter.

Google Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler said the company is bringing ads in AI Overviews to more users and queries, while extending AI Mode ads beyond the United States. The expansion also includes multi-turn ad formats in the U.S., designed to engage with users through ongoing conversations.

Early company data indicates that sponsored product listings in AI Mode have click-through rates comparable to organic listings. Google says its research also finds users consider the ads relevant.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said Search queries are growing at their fastest year-over-year pace in five years, with AI features encouraging longer and more complex searches. Queries in AI Mode average three times the length of traditional searches, and one in five worldwide involves voice, images or documents. Google also processes more than 50 billion visual searches each month.

As AI reshapes how people discover information, bringing advertising into these experiences could help define how digital commerce and search evolve together.
