TikTok is expanding its role beyond short-form video, adding services designed to help users discover places, shop, plan trips and engage with entertainment without leaving the app. Its latest step is Must Eat, a restaurant guide built around recommendations shared on the platform.
From food discovery to bookings
Must Eat draws on more than 40 million posts and comments to organize restaurant suggestions into curated lists. Users can browse by city and filter results by cuisine, price, rating and location. The feature brings TikTok's popular food recommendations into a more searchable format.
The guide joins a wider set of discovery tools, including local search, maps and place pages with details such as opening hours and price ranges. TikTok GO, launched in the United States, lets users find and book hotels, attractions and experiences through content, search and location pages.
Commerce, sports and entertainment
TikTok Shop has become a major part of the company's move into commerce, while the platform has also added casual games and short scripted series. Sports features bring schedules, scores and related content into the app, helping users follow events alongside their usual viewing.
TikTok is also exploring a way for users to send money through direct messages. The feature is not yet described as widely available; TikTok Pay already supports purchases in TikTok Shop in parts of Southeast Asia.
Together, these additions point to a strategy of connecting discovery with transactions and entertainment in one place. If users adopt the services, TikTok's next phase could help shape how digital platforms combine everyday activities into a single experience.
