TikTok is expanding its commerce experience with an AI-powered Shopping Assistant and a new one-click checkout option designed to make product discovery and purchasing more seamless inside the app.
Shopping guidance within the feed
The conversational assistant can answer product-related questions in real time, offering details on sizing, availability, shipping and other purchase considerations. TikTok says the tool can also retain context from a conversation, helping users receive more relevant suggestions as they explore different options.
The new checkout experience enables users to purchase directly from brands while browsing the For You feed. Instead of moving to a separate website, viewers can complete a transaction with a single action within TikTok's ecosystem.
A broader social commerce model
By bringing product advice and payments closer to content discovery, TikTok is evolving its platform beyond a standalone marketplace. The update complements TikTok Shop by embedding commerce tools across the wider app, where short-form videos increasingly shape shopping inspiration.
The initiative is being developed with commerce and payment partners including Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza and Stripe. These integrations are intended to support brands as they connect product catalogs, customer experiences and payment journeys to TikTok.
TikTok's latest economic impact report said activity on the platform supported $81 billion in US GDP for businesses, while 54 million Americans reported buying a product after watching a TikTok video. With AI guidance and frictionless payment now closer together, social platforms may become more personalized spaces for everyday product discovery and retail innovation.
