Snorkel AI Reaches $3.5 Billion Valuation as Demand Grows for Advanced Training Data

Snorkel AI, a company developing training datasets and simulated environments for artificial intelligence systems, has secured $350 million in Series E funding. The round values the company at $3.5 billion, nearly triple its valuation from 17 months earlier.

The investment was led by Insight Partners and S32, with participation from existing backers including Addition, Lightspeed, Greylock, GV and Wells Fargo. The funding reflects the rising need for high-quality, specialized data as organizations build more capable AI models.

From data labeling to AI data services

Initially focused on automating data labeling, Snorkel AI has expanded its model into a data-as-a-service platform. The company now delivers completed datasets and reinforcement learning environments designed for AI development teams.

Its approach combines proprietary software, AI models, synthetic data generation and input from domain specialists. This hybrid structure is intended to help customers create tailored training resources more efficiently than traditional human-only data collection workflows.

Snorkel AI reports an annualized revenue run rate of $375 million, representing an 18-fold increase over the past year. The company was commercially launched in 2019 following research conducted by co-founder and CEO Alex Ratner and his team at Stanford University.

As AI systems become more specialized, demand for reliable training environments and curated datasets is likely to make data infrastructure an increasingly central layer of the global AI economy.
