LinkedIn is introducing new verification features designed to strengthen trust across professional profiles and company pages. The update gives members, employers and partner platforms more ways to confirm workplace connections and professional identity.
Colleagues can confirm shared experience
Members will be able to vouch for colleagues and classmates they have known in a professional or academic setting. Rather than serving as a recommendation, this option confirms that two people shared an organization during a stated period.
To support the reliability of these confirmations, the person providing a vouch must have a verified profile, have been connected with the member for at least one year, and use two-factor authentication on their account.
More control for company pages
LinkedIn is also giving organizations new tools to manage how their brand is represented on the platform. Company page administrators can remove accounts that incorrectly appear as employees from their page and related search experiences.
The change does not alter a member's self-managed profile. However, an unconfirmed workplace entry will no longer link to the relevant company page or display as verified work experience. LinkedIn is additionally testing workplace verification requirements for people who wish to associate their profiles with certain organizations.
Verified identity beyond LinkedIn
The platform is expanding partnerships that allow users to display their verified LinkedIn identity in other digital services. Truecaller and PeerSpot are joining existing partners, enabling members to carry a consistent professional identity across more online environments.
LinkedIn says its verification tools have already been used by 115 million members and more than 700,000 companies. The company also reports that verified profiles typically receive higher visibility for their posts and professional activity.
As digital careers become increasingly connected, portable and transparent verification systems could help make professional networks more dependable, opening the way for a stronger global culture of trusted digital identity.
