LinkedIn introduces a new tool to flag AI-generated posts

LinkedIn adds a "Seems like AI slop" button and new detection tools to reduce low-quality AI posts, improve authenticity, and support clearer professional communication.

LinkedIn introduces a new tool to flag AI-generated posts

LinkedIn is rolling out a new way for members to help identify posts that appear to be written with artificial intelligence. The platform now includes a "Seems like AI slop" option, designed to let users signal when content feels overly automated or low in originality.

The update reflects a wider industry push to improve content quality as online platforms look for better ways to distinguish authentic voices from machine-produced text. LinkedIn says the goal is to keep the feed focused on real expertise, personal perspective, and professional insight.

According to Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan, the company is combining user feedback with new detection systems to reduce low-quality AI content. LinkedIn is also strengthening automation defenses, blocking large volumes of suspicious comment activity and other automated attempts every day.

The platform is testing new classifiers that can identify AI-heavy or low-value posts more accurately, which may also influence what appears in recommended content beyond a user's direct network. At the same time, LinkedIn will privately alert users when their posts may come across as inauthentic because of heavy AI use, giving them a chance to refine their writing.

Another notable change is the removal of LinkedIn's previous AI-assisted post generator. In its place, the company is introducing a proofreading-focused tool that helps polish text without reshaping the author's voice. LinkedIn is also expanding profile and page verification options, while giving users more control over which company-page comments they want to see.

This shift points toward a more transparent digital environment where human expression and AI support can coexist with clearer boundaries, shaping the future of professional communication online.
