Google has expanded Gemini Spark to macOS, bringing its agentic AI assistant to the desktop through the Gemini app. The update adds new capabilities designed to make everyday digital tasks more fluid, from organizing files to turning stored documents into fresh Workspace content.
With this release, Spark can connect more deeply with Google Tasks and Google Keep, while also working with services such as Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable and Zillow Rentals. That means users can ask the assistant to help draft materials, manage lists, build spreadsheets from invoices, or support planning tasks across different apps.
Google also says Spark can now follow topics in real time, improving its usefulness for tracking sports results, market shifts, weather changes and other live updates. Another addition is support for custom MCP connections, giving users a way to link preferred apps and shape a more personalized assistant experience.
At launch, the macOS beta is limited to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. Google also plans to extend Spark's abilities to multi-step tasks on mobile, including workflows that can pull information from files on a Mac. The move positions Gemini Spark as a more versatile desktop companion in the fast-growing AI assistant space. Its evolution points toward a future where everyday computing becomes increasingly coordinated, intuitive and context-aware.
