Cindy Sherman Leads the Second Edition of Chanel's Arts Magazine

The Chanel Culture Fund will release the second volume of its Arts & Culture Magazine on October 23, timed to coincide with Art Basel Paris. Artist Cindy Sherman appears on the cover wearing Chanel tweed.

The 300-page publication will be distributed free at 33 independent bookstores and magazine shops across 22 countries. Its international locations include 7L in Paris, ACO Books in Hong Kong, Casa Bosques in Mexico City and Rococo News & Magazines in London.

Inside, readers will find original handwritten lyrics by Patti Smith, alongside a conversation between Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage and National Theatre director Indhu Rubasingham about adapting storytelling for the stage. Writer Andrew Durbin considers the life and legacy of Peggy Guggenheim, whose work will be the focus of an exhibition at the Royal Academy opening November 21.

The magazine will also be available at Hauser & Wirth's London gallery, where Sherman's "Fabric Matrons" photographs are on view. The edition reflects the fund's aim to support artists and creative ideas, with Sherman's decades-long exploration of identity and women's self-representation at its centre.

By bringing art, performance and cultural history together in a free international publication, the project may help make contemporary creative work more accessible to wider audiences.
