Apple has recently introduced its latest lineup of displays alongside the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, both equipped with the company's cutting-edge chips. The new displays include the $1,599 Studio Display and the premium $3,299 Studio Display XDR.
These new 27-inch displays boast enhanced camera capabilities and improved connectivity options. Each model is outfitted with a 12MP Center Stage camera, delivering superior image quality. Notably, the Desk View feature allows users to see both their face and an overhead view of their workspace simultaneously.
The Studio Display features a stunning 5K Retina display with over 14 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness, and supports the P3 wide-gamut color standard, which encompasses a wider range of colors compared to traditional standards like sRGB.
Equipped with Thunderbolt 5 ports, these displays can connect to various accessories and daisy-chain up to four displays using the included Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable. Additionally, the sound system consists of a three-microphone array and a six-speaker setup with Spatial Audio, offering a remarkable 30% increase in bass depth compared to previous models.
The more advanced Studio Display XDR features a 5K Retina XDR display, boasting a resolution of 5120×2880, a mini-LED backlight, and over 2,000 local dimming zones. It achieves brightness levels of up to 1000 nits for SDR and peaks at 2000 nits for HDR, along with an impressive 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. This model also supports the Adobe RGB color standard.
For added versatility, the display refreshes at 120Hz and supports Adaptive Sync, making it suitable for various applications, including medical imaging. Apple is currently seeking FDA clearance for the Medical Imaging Calibrator, which will soon be available in the U.S.
The Studio Display features a tilt-adjustable stand, while the Display XDR offers height adjustment as well. Both models are available with either standard or nano-texture glass finishes. Pre-orders are set to commence on March 4, with availability starting March 11.
