Venture capital firm Valor Equity Partners has transferred part of its SpaceX shareholding directly to its limited partners, according to a disclosure filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The firm, founded by SpaceX board member Antonio Gracias, allocated approximately 8.5% of its SpaceX holdings to investors. The distributed stake is estimated at around $8.5 billion, while Valor retains more than 460 million SpaceX shares.
A long-term investment approach
Rather than selling shares on the public market and distributing cash proceeds, Valor chose to transfer ownership to its investors. This structure may offer partners greater flexibility in managing their holdings and potential tax planning.
The move also reflects a long-term approach to one of the world's most closely watched space technology companies. Valor has backed SpaceX across multiple stages of its growth, from private-sector rocket development to expanded satellite and launch operations.
As space infrastructure becomes an increasingly important part of global communications, research and commercial innovation, investor participation in companies such as SpaceX may help shape the next chapter of the orbital economy.
