V&A Workers Plan Two-Day Strike Across London Sites

Unionized staff at the Victoria and Albert Museum plan to strike at all four of its London sites on October 29 and 30, as discussions over pay and working conditions continue.

Members of the Prospect Union and the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) have raised concerns about workplace conditions, including break arrangements at the V&A East Storehouse. The planned action follows earlier strikes at some museum locations in September.

The unions are seeking a 4% pay increase for staff, alongside a minimum hourly wage of £14.80 for the lowest-paid workers. They say this would enable the museum to qualify as a Real London Living Wage accredited employer.

The outcome of negotiations could influence how major cultural institutions balance staff conditions with the day-to-day operation of public museums.
