Superhuman is expanding its AI-driven productivity ecosystem by acquiring Fathom, a Y Combinator-backed meeting notetaker, instead of building the tool from scratch.
The move reflects a broader shift in workplace software: platforms are moving beyond simple automation and toward systems that can understand meeting context, identify action items, and trigger work on their own. In that vision, note-taking becomes a strategic layer for AI agents.
Founded in 2020, Fathom has raised more than $30 million and was valued at $94 million in 2024, according to PitchBook. The company says its free offering helped it reach over 400,000 monthly active users and more than 1 million recorded meetings.
Superhuman CEO Shishir Mehrotra said internal testing showed how complex a strong notetaker can be, from reliable recording to useful meeting summaries. He added that integrating Fathom could help Superhuman surface meeting context in real time and connect it to its wider suite.
That suite already includes an email client, docs, calendar, database tools, and an AI agent builder. With Fathom in the mix, Superhuman can link meetings to follow-up emails, scheduling, data updates, and automated workflows more seamlessly.
Fathom CEO Richard White said Superhuman's large user base offers a faster path to scale and a stronger distribution channel for the product. The deal also signals how meeting intelligence is becoming a core building block for the next generation of workplace software.
As productivity platforms evolve, meeting data may become one of the most valuable inputs for AI systems designed to act with greater speed and context in the future.
