Sierra, the innovative customer service platform founded by Bret Taylor, has made headlines with its recent acquisition of Fragment, a French startup backed by Y Combinator. This strategic move, announced on Thursday, aims to bolster Sierra's capabilities in integrating artificial intelligence into business workflows.
This marks Sierra's third acquisition, following its purchase of Japan's enterprise AI firm Opera Tech and the voice agent company Receptive AI, both of which were revealed in late March. The co-founders of Fragment, Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthail, will be joining the Sierra team, bringing their expertise to enhance the company's agent development initiatives in France.
In a blog post, Taylor, alongside co-founder Clay Bavor, expressed confidence in the addition of Moindrot and Genthail, highlighting their potential to contribute significantly to Sierra's growth in the AI sector. While the financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed, Pitchbook estimates that Fragment raised approximately $2 million during its seed funding round.
Bret Taylor, who also holds the position of chairman at OpenAI, co-founded Sierra after leaving his role as co-CEO of Salesforce earlier this year. The startup has quickly gained traction, attracting notable clients such as Casper, Clear, and Brex. To date, Sierra has successfully raised over $630 million in funding from prominent investors, including Sequoia and Benchmark, achieving a remarkable valuation of $10 billion.
This acquisition not only strengthens Sierra's market position but also reflects the growing trend of integrating AI into customer service, paving the way for more efficient and responsive business solutions in the future.
