Spanish startup Liux is preparing to bring its microcar, the Liux Big, to market with a clear focus on sustainability, efficient design and local production. The company has already secured Europe-wide homologation and expects sales to begin in the first half of next year.
Built for dense city life, the Liux Big is designed to be compact enough for tight parking while still offering the feel of a real car. The model uses a linen-based biocomposite body, rechargeable batteries compatible with home charging and solar power, and a structure intended to support easier maintenance and longer product life.
Founded by Antonio Espinosa de los Monteros and David Sancho, Liux combines circular-economy thinking with EV engineering. The startup says its approach is not about full supply-chain independence, but about making smart choices that reduce waste and improve material recovery over time.
Liux has grown to 65 employees and is preparing production across three facilities in Spain, including its Azuqueca de Henares plant. The company says the microcar's urban version will be launched through dealership partnerships across Europe, with a planned price below €18,000 before possible subsidies.
Interest is already building: more than 7,500 people have joined the waiting list. Liux also sees room for fleet partnerships and future autonomous applications, while its showroom design highlights a clean, modern identity built around textile textures and minimalist materials.
With its mix of compact mobility, circular materials and scalable production, Liux is positioning the Big as a fresh European answer to the evolving microcar market, and a sign of where urban mobility may be heading next.
