As of 9 a.m. CT, the price of May corn has decreased by 4½¢, settling at $4.37½ per bushel.
Meanwhile, May soybeans have seen a slight increase of less than a penny, now priced at $11.48¾ per bushel.
In the wheat market, May CBOT wheat is down 6¢, priced at $5.42½ per bushel. Kansas City wheat has dropped 3¼¢ to $5.50½ per bushel, while Minneapolis wheat is down 3¾¢ at $5.80¼.
Al Kluis, managing director of Kluis Commodity Advisors, commented on the weather conditions affecting crop yields. "The persistent wet conditions in northern Mato Grosso are impacting the quality of the soybean harvest and reducing yields weekly. Additionally, there is a risk of delaying the planting of double-crop corn. In Argentina, recent rainfall was insufficient to benefit corn and soybeans in the central regions."
On the livestock front, March feeder cattle rose by $5.43 to $371.58 per hundredweight (cwt), while April live cattle increased by $3.25 to $243.88 per cwt. April lean hogs also saw a rise of 88¢, now at $92.15 per cwt.
In energy markets, March crude oil has decreased by 21¢, now priced at $62.68 per barrel.
The U.S. Dollar Index for March is up to 97.32.
The S&P 500 Index has fallen by 43 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down by 152.07 points.
