Google has expanded Google Vids with a new feature that lets users create a personal AI avatar based on a selfie and a voice recording. The update is designed to help people present themselves in videos without filming every take manually.
The platform is also gaining support from Gemini Omni, Google's multimodal AI model. With it, users can build videos from text prompts and reference images, while also adjusting elements such as background, lighting, and visual effects inside existing clips.
Another notable addition is step-by-step editing, which allows changes to be made progressively instead of restarting a project from the beginning. That makes the workflow more flexible for workplace updates, training materials, and other business-focused content.
Google says the personal avatar feature is linked to the user's Google account and protected with SynthID watermarking. Access is limited to adults in selected regions, reflecting the company's focus on controlled rollout and responsible use.
With these upgrades, Google Vids is moving beyond a presentation tool and becoming a broader AI video creation platform inside Google Workspace. The development points to a future where video production becomes more personal, faster, and increasingly accessible.
