Bluecore Energy secures $50M seed funding to advance floating nuclear power

Bluecore Energy has closed an oversubscribed $50 million seed round only two months after its launch, building on a $10 million pre-seed raise announced earlier this year.

Founded by Kofi Asante, the company is developing small modular reactors mounted on floating barges, a design intended to deliver clean electricity to ports and nearby infrastructure with greater flexibility than fixed sites.

Asante says the concept draws on long-running portable nuclear use in maritime settings, but with a smaller footprint and faster deployment. Bluecore has already launched two barges and is working with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Department of Transportation Maritime Division on review and certification.

The new capital will support product development, regulatory progress, fuel procurement, and hiring. Investor interest has come from both returning backers and new participants across technology and venture circles, reflecting growing attention to mobile clean-energy systems.

Bluecore says it is seeing demand from ports, AI data centers, and communities seeking reliable power and water access. If its platform advances through certification, the company could help shape a more adaptable model for clean energy delivery in the years ahead.
