AI is speeding up how software is written, and that shift is creating fresh demand for tools that can test and verify code just as quickly. Blacksmith has raised a new $45 million Series B to meet that need.
The round, led by Peak XV Partners, values the startup at $550 million, up sharply from the $60 million figure it received in its Series A less than a year ago. GV and Y Combinator also joined the financing, bringing Blacksmith's total funding to $58.5 million.
Founded in 2024, Blacksmith helps teams build, test, and validate software before release. The company says it now serves more than 5,000 customers, including Mercury, Supabase, Clerk, Ashby, and Expensify, compared with more than 700 customers less than a year ago.
Co-founder and CEO Aditya Jayaprakash says the rise of AI coding tools has made software creation faster, but quality control remains essential. Blacksmith began as a cloud platform for continuous integration workloads and has since expanded with Codesmith, an AI agent designed to automatically repair failed code checks.
Jayaprakash said the company reached a $10 million annualized revenue run rate with just 10 employees and has since grown to about 30 people, with revenue now in the tens of millions of dollars. He also noted that some large customers spend more than $1 million a year on the platform.
As AI development tools continue to evolve, Blacksmith is positioning itself around speed, affordability, and broader developer workflows. The next phase of software creation may depend as much on verification as on generation, shaping a faster and more reliable development future.
