Bedrock Robotics has raised $600 million in a Series C funding round, putting the construction-technology startup's valuation at $4.1 billion. The financing was co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital.
The company makes a self-driving system that can be installed on construction and other worksite vehicles. Its autonomous excavators have moved beyond pilot programs and are now operating commercially at projects in Nevada and Texas, including work with Champion Site Prep and Zachry Construction Corporation.
From pilot sites to wider deployment
Bedrock plans to use the new funding to bring its technology to more construction sites and expand the teams and infrastructure that support customers. Arizona-based contractor Haydon is its latest partner, with plans to use the equipment on projects involving manufacturing, water and wastewater, data centers, and healthcare facilities.
Founded in 2024 by veterans of the autonomous-vehicle and robotics industries, Bedrock has raised nearly $1 billion to date. The company is targeting excavation work in part because skilled operators take years to train and many experienced construction workers are nearing retirement.
New investors in the round include US Innovative Technology Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Temasek. Existing backers, including Nvidia, also participated. Bedrock has additionally appointed Amy Jones Satrom as vice president of operations and Lando Juarez as general counsel.
If adopted at scale, autonomous excavators could help contractors extend workforce capacity and bring more automation to infrastructure and construction projects.
