Xreal has introduced Aura, a pair of wired smart glasses running on Google's Android XR platform and Qualcomm's Snapdragon Reality Elite. The glasses connect to a separate computing device, which handles processing while the wearer sees digital content in their field of view.
Aura features a Sony Micro-OLED display with 1200p resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 95-degree field of view. The glasses weigh 95 grams, and Bose technology powers their audio. Gemini is also available as an assistant, able to answer questions and interpret on-screen context.
At launch, the device supports Google Play apps and games, alongside XR experiences including the NBA app for Android XR, NASCAR XR App and San Francisco Ballet Company's "The Nutcracker." Through USB-C, users can connect a computer or handheld gaming console, or create a large virtual screen and multi-monitor workspace.
Xreal Aura is available to order in the United States, Canada, Japan and South Korea. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model is priced at $1,279, with a limited launch price of $1,099 through December. A 16GB RAM and 512GB version costs $1,499, reduced to $1,299 during the same period. Shipping is expected to begin by mid-November.
By combining wearable displays, Android XR apps and Gemini assistance, Aura points toward a future where digital screens and services can move more seamlessly into everyday settings.
