X has begun routing all U.S. creator payouts through X Money, its built-in payments service, marking a new step in the platform's creator economy strategy.
The change covers earnings from Original Content Rewards and subscriptions. According to the company's update, creators who already use X Money do not need to take any action, while others will receive future payouts through the service.
The main shift is speed: instead of waiting for a billing cycle or a minimum balance, creators can access funds as soon as they are sent. X previously processed payouts every two weeks and required a $30 minimum.
The move also reflects a broader redesign of X's monetization tools. The company is set to retire its Creator Revenue Sharing Program on September 7 and has been steering creators toward Original Content Rewards, which places greater weight on original posts.
X Money is part of Elon Musk's wider vision for X as an all-in-one digital platform. The service includes features such as instant transfers, a bank card with cashback, ATM withdrawals, and interest-linked account benefits. While X Money powers the experience, the accounts themselves are held at Cross River Bank, an FDIC-insured institution.
X also said creator payouts will count toward direct deposit requirements for higher APY rates. In addition, the company will issue 1099-NEC forms for individual creators and collect W-9 details for LLCs to support accurate tax reporting.
This update signals how social platforms may continue blending content creation, payments, and financial services into a more integrated digital ecosystem.
