WhatsApp has introduced five new features designed specifically to make group chats more flexible, organized, and responsive. The update centers on faster coordination and better control for both large and small communities.
@all brings instant group-wide attention
The biggest addition is the new @all mention, which lets users notify everyone in a group with a single message. It is especially useful for urgent updates or time-sensitive plans. In groups with more than 32 members, the feature is limited to admins, while users can also mute these alerts if they prefer a quieter chat experience.
Polls become more adaptable
WhatsApp is also expanding group polls with three practical upgrades. Users can now set an end time for responses, hide voter names when privacy matters, and edit poll questions within 15 minutes after posting. These changes make polls more precise and easier to manage.
New chats from existing groups
Another addition allows users to create a new group chat from an existing one without starting over. This makes it simpler to split conversations into focused threads, whether for event planning, project coordination, or smaller team discussions.
