WhatsApp is introducing guest calling, allowing people without an account to join calls through an invitation link. Meta says the feature is designed to make it easier for friends and groups to connect even when not everyone uses the messaging app.
To invite a guest, a WhatsApp user can open the Calls tab, create a call link and share it. The recipient can open the link in a computer browser, enter a name and request to join. Guest calling supports one-to-one conversations and group calls with up to 32 participants.
Guests need the host's approval to enter and remain in a waiting room until admitted. They can be removed by the host, cannot see other callers' phone numbers, send messages or invite additional participants. They can, however, share their screen, react with emojis and raise a hand.
Meta says guest calls are free and end-to-end encrypted, like standard WhatsApp calls. By making participation possible without an account, the feature could make cross-platform conversations more accessible as digital communication continues to evolve.
