WhatsApp Tests Scheduled Messages for Android Beta Users

WhatsApp is testing scheduled messages with selected Android beta users, including options for chats and groups, with send times ranging from 10 minutes to two weeks.

WhatsApp Tests Scheduled Messages for Android Beta Users

WhatsApp is testing a feature that lets some Android beta users schedule messages to be sent later. The option is designed for moments when you want to send a note at a more suitable time without having to remember to do it manually.

The test feature supports text, photos and videos in both individual and group chats. Scheduled messages are described as end-to-end encrypted, and are expected to send at the selected time even if the sender's device is offline. Available scheduling times range from 10 minutes to two weeks ahead.

How to check for the feature

Access is limited, and joining WhatsApp's Android beta does not guarantee that the feature will appear. After enrolling in the beta through Google Play and updating the app, users can compose a message and press and hold the send button. If scheduling is enabled for their account, a menu will let them choose a date and time.

Scheduled messages can also be managed within the relevant conversation by opening its chat settings and selecting "Schedule messages." The test is currently limited to selected Android beta users; availability for iPhone users and a wider release have not been confirmed.

If introduced broadly, scheduled sending could make everyday messaging more flexible while helping people communicate at the time that works best for recipients.
