Uber Backs Carrum Mobility With $10M as Fleet Strategy Expands in India

Uber has deepened its partnership with Indian fleet management startup Carrum Mobility, investing $10 million in a Series B round that values the company at about $168 million post-money. The move highlights how large fleet operators are becoming a key part of ride-hailing supply in India.

Founded in 2024 by Karan Jain, Carrum now operates roughly 5,100 vehicles and works with more than 18,000 drivers across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Kolkata. The company says its annualized revenue has reached around ₹4.3 billion, reflecting rapid scale in a market where efficient vehicle supply matters as much as demand.

The startup supports Uber's entry-level Uber Go, Premier, and premium Black services. Its fleet mix is led by hatchbacks, followed by sedans and SUVs, with Carrum serving as Uber's largest Black partner in India. The model gives the platform tighter control over vehicle quality, driver readiness and service consistency.

Carrum's growth has also been supported by stronger financial fundamentals. The company says borrowing costs have fallen over the past year as profitability improved and its balance sheet strengthened. It plans to use the new capital to expand beyond its current footprint, add more vehicles, upgrade its technology stack and grow its team.

Over the next 12 months, Carrum aims to more than double its fleet to about 11,000 vehicles. While the company is not exclusive to Uber, it currently has no plans to supply rival ride-hailing platforms. Looking ahead, the partnership points to a future where fleet-tech alliances could shape more scalable and standardized mobility networks worldwide.
