A major move into AI-powered home security
Thrive Holdings has agreed to acquire security company ADT in a transaction valued at $15.3 billion, including debt. The deal values ADT's equity at approximately $7.6 billion, or $10 per share.
Thrive Holdings, an investment firm spun out of Thrive Capital, focuses on applying AI across the businesses it owns. OpenAI is both a partner and an investor, providing AI models, technology and engineers to support companies in Thrive's portfolio.
The companies have not yet detailed specific products or a launch timeline. They say ADT will serve as the foundation of Thrive Holdings' smart home security business, with investment and new product development planned.
The acquisition could bring AI further into everyday home security, potentially shaping how connected homes identify and respond to events in the years ahead.
