Former accountant Ahad Ali is building Tabby, an AI-powered platform designed to simplify bookkeeping for small businesses. After managing a 20-person accounting team and processing more than 2,000 returns annually, Ali identified an opportunity to move beyond conventional accounting software workflows.
Tabby is designed as a real-time financial interface that processes business paperwork and turns live account activity into an accessible view of profit, loss and overall financial health. Through Plaid integrations, the platform imports account data and uses AI to organize it into an up-to-date dashboard.
A shift from software management to automated finance
The company's approach focuses on reducing the time business owners spend navigating accounting tools. Rather than asking users to manually manage multiple bookkeeping tasks, Tabby aims to automate routine processes and present financial information in a more direct format.
Tabby also offers a version for accounting firms seeking a more intelligent workflow. However, its central focus is reaching small and medium-sized businesses directly, where streamlined financial operations can support faster day-to-day decisions.
Fourteen months after launch, Tabby reports 5,500 small-business users and around $100,000 in annual recurring revenue. The seven-person team is preparing a $1 million pre-seed funding round while developing Tabby Talk, a natural-language interface intended to let users interact with financial data through everyday questions.
AI-driven platforms such as Tabby could help make real-time financial visibility a standard capability for smaller companies, allowing entrepreneurs to spend more energy on growth, products and customer relationships.
