Spotify Lets U.S. Premium Users Fine-Tune Their Listening Recommendations

Spotify's Taste Profile lets U.S. Premium users refine music, podcast and audiobook recommendations with natural-language requests for a more personal discovery experience.

Spotify Lets U.S. Premium Users Fine-Tune Their Listening Recommendations

Spotify has begun rolling out Taste Profile, a new beta feature that gives Premium subscribers in the United States more direct control over the recommendations they receive.

Available to listeners aged 18 and over, the tool shows how Spotify interprets an individual's interests across music, podcasts and audiobooks. Users can then describe desired changes in natural language, asking for greater variety, less of a specific genre, artist or mood, or more suggestions suited to a particular listening goal.

A More Personal Recommendation Experience

Spotify's recommendation system powers familiar experiences such as Discover Weekly, Made for You selections and Spotify Wrapped. Taste Profile adds a more conversational way to refine those results, helping listeners guide the platform when their preferences evolve.

The feature may also help separate regular listening habits from long-term interests. For example, users can request fewer recommendations influenced by sleep audio, shared-account listening or other content they enjoy occasionally but do not want to shape their everyday discovery feed.

To use Taste Profile in the mobile app, Premium users can open their account settings, select the feature and enter a request under the adjustment prompt. Spotify says refreshed suggestions may appear on the Home feed within a few hours.

The beta tool was previously tested in New Zealand and is now reaching Spotify's largest market. Taste Profile signals a shift toward more transparent, user-led discovery, potentially setting a new standard for how people shape AI-powered media experiences.
