Palo Alto Networks is in talks to acquire Clutch Security, a startup that manages AI agents' access to corporate systems. The proposed deal includes $500 million in cash, with additional payments tied to milestones. No agreement has been finalized.
Valuation reflects rising interest in AI security
Clutch, founded three years ago, was valued at $85 million after raising a $20 million Series A round in January 2025. The company is now approaching $10 million in annual recurring revenue. At the proposed price, the acquisition would value Clutch at roughly 50 times its current recurring revenue, before any milestone payments.
The potential acquisition would strengthen Palo Alto Networks' capabilities in managing AI agents that interact with business systems. It also reflects the growing focus on protecting enterprise environments as AI tools become more widely adopted.
As AI agents take on more workplace tasks, security tools that control and monitor their access could become an increasingly important part of companies' digital infrastructure.
