Mach9 has raised $34 million in Series A funding to develop its AI-powered computer-aided design (CAD) software for civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The round was co-led by First Round Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Prudence and Quiet Capital.
The company began as Mach9 Robotics, building hardware for civil engineering inspections. Customer feedback led it to shift focus: engineers needed better ways to turn information from laser scanners and imaging systems into usable survey plans. Mach9 now uses AI to help automate that process.
Its software converts survey data into an initial plan that engineers can review and refine. Mach9 says its in-house models are designed to produce geometry at the centimeter-level accuracy required for infrastructure work. The company reports that nearly 100 customers have used its private beta across more than 2,500 projects.
Mach9 says its platform can make parts of the CAD workflow up to 10 times faster than manual work in traditional software. The new funding will support product development, recruitment of industry specialists and broader company growth.
By reducing the time needed to turn captured data into engineering plans, AI-assisted CAD could help teams take on more infrastructure work and inform future design decisions.
