JioHotstar Expands Into MENA Through Starzplay Partnership

JioHotstar partners with Starzplay to bring multilingual Indian films, series and originals to Middle East and North Africa audiences.

JioHotstar Expands Into MENA Through Starzplay Partnership

Indian streaming platform JioHotstar is extending its international reach through a new partnership with Starzplay, bringing its entertainment catalogue to audiences across the Middle East and North Africa.

The collaboration gives JioHotstar a dedicated destination within the Starzplay platform, featuring Indian films, television series, original productions and popular reality formats. The move follows JioHotstar's recent standalone launches in the United Kingdom, Canada and Singapore.

A Multilingual Entertainment Offering

Designed for the region's large South Asian community, the service will offer content in up to 10 languages, including Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Bangla. New JioHotstar originals are expected to arrive in MENA at the same time as their Indian releases.

The catalogue includes widely recognised entertainment franchises such as Bigg Boss and Koffee with Karan, while Malayalam programming will receive particular attention in response to the region's sizeable Malayali audience.

JioHotstar's sports programming from India will not be included as a standalone feature in MENA. However, viewers will be able to access combined plans that pair JioHotstar entertainment with Starzplay's sports selection, including cricket.

A New Route for Global Growth

JioHotstar was formed through the combination of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar following the 2024 media venture between Reliance Industries and Disney's Indian business. With more than 500 million monthly active users, the platform is now pursuing a broader international audience through a mix of direct launches and regional collaborations.

Starzplay, which serves more than 2.3 million subscribers, offers JioHotstar an established distribution network and a platform already familiar with South Asian entertainment demand.

This partnership signals how multilingual streaming ecosystems may increasingly connect diaspora audiences with simultaneous, culturally relevant entertainment experiences across borders.
