Google Photos has expanded its AI-powered virtual closet feature to iOS and Android users in the United States, Brazil and India. The tool organizes clothing items identified in a user's personal library into a digital wardrobe designed to simplify everyday outfit planning.

Within Google Photos, users can explore items by categories including tops, bottoms, jewellery and other accessories. The feature also enables people to combine pieces virtually, helping them consider different outfit options from clothing they already own.
The wider availability follows an initial Android rollout that began in June. By bringing the tool to both major mobile platforms, Google is positioning the feature as a practical lifestyle companion rather than simply a photo-management addition.
Privacy and creative tools
Google says information related to users' clothing choices is designed to remain private and is not shared with retailers or third parties. The update arrives alongside further Google Photos enhancements, including expanded editing controls, new Remix templates and Android-exclusive Moods filters inspired by visual styles such as 35mm film and early-2000s digital cameras.
As AI becomes more integrated with personal archives, tools such as virtual closets could make everyday planning more intuitive while encouraging people to get greater value from what they already have.
