Figma is deepening its push beyond design by bringing the team behind Bud, the vibe coding and AI agent platform, into its ecosystem. The move signals a stronger focus on connecting ideation, prototyping, and code within a single creative workspace.
Originally launched as Orchids, Bud evolved from a no-code style app builder into an agent-driven platform that could browse the web, use services, and write code to automate tasks across mobile, web, Slack, and browser-based workflows.
As part of the transition, both Bud and Orchids will be discontinued by July 18, and users are expected to move their projects before then. The startup, backed by Y Combinator, had positioned itself at the intersection of AI automation and rapid app creation.
Figma has not detailed how the team will be integrated, but its recent product direction offers a clear clue: the company is steadily building tools that help teams move from concept to working product faster. That includes Figma Make, integrations with coding assistants, and its own AI-powered agents.
This acquisition reflects a broader shift in digital creation, where design platforms are becoming intelligent build environments. In the future, such convergence could make product development faster, more collaborative, and far more accessible.
