A different approach to hospital care
Indian healthcare company Even Healthcare has raised $50 million in a Series B funding round led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from Alpha Wave. The company says the investment values it at $300 million and brings its total funding to more than $120 million.
Even aims to align hospital operations with patient outcomes rather than the volume of tests or procedures. It is building and running its own hospitals, while paying doctors fixed salaries instead of linking compensation to the number of treatments they recommend. Doctors may also receive bonuses based on patient-reported clinical outcomes.
The company has opened two hospitals in Bengaluru, which it says reached operating profitability before depreciation within a year. It plans to establish five more in the city over the next six months, using part of the new funding.
Even says it measures recovery with established clinical scoring systems and reports an unplanned readmission rate below 1%. Its model also includes working with insurers on approaches that reward effective care and the prevention of avoidable hospital stays.
If the model can scale while maintaining its focus on measurable outcomes, it could help shape how hospitals balance quality of care, affordability, and sustainable growth.
