Erewhon to Open Location at LACMA's New David Geffen Galleries

Erewhon, the renowned grocery store celebrated for its premium smoothies priced over $20, is set to establish a new location within the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). This exciting partnership coincides with the museum's upcoming launch of the David Geffen Galleries, designed by Peter Zumthor, which will open to members on April 19 and to the public on May 4.

The Erewhon café will align its opening with the museum's schedule, providing early access to members before its public debut. The café will be situated in the northeast pavilion of the new building, known as the W.M. Keck Plaza, and will overlook Alexander Calder's recently reinstalled sculpture, Three Quintains (Hello Girls).

Michael Govan, LACMA's director and CEO, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "We are excited to launch Erewhon at LACMA for the opening season of the David Geffen Galleries. Erewhon is a Los Angeles icon that values creativity and wellbeing and is dedicated to its communities. A moment of respite at Erewhon at LACMA, surrounded by public art, will be a vital part of the LACMA experience."

The café will feature a selection from Erewhon's menu, known for its focus on organic and ethically sourced foods. Menu highlights will include organic coffee, fresh pastries, signature smoothies, cold-pressed juices, and a variety of grab-and-go meals and snacks.

Among these offerings is the famed $21 Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie, which gained viral fame as the Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie in 2022. This smoothie is a blend of almond milk, strawberries, bananas, avocado, dates, maple syrup, collagen peptides, sea moss gel, and coconut cream.

In a joint statement, Erewhon owners Tony and Josephine Antoci shared their pride in partnering with LACMA, calling it a meaningful milestone as their first collaboration with a museum. They emphasized the celebration of Los Angeles and the aim to nourish and inspire the community.

This innovative partnership between Erewhon and LACMA not only enhances the museum's visitor experience but also sets a precedent for future collaborations between culinary and cultural institutions, potentially transforming how communities engage with art and lifestyle.
