Indian AI coding startup Emergent has reached unicorn status after closing a $130 million Series C round at a $1.5 billion post-money valuation. The company's value has climbed fivefold in just six months, underscoring the fast-moving momentum behind AI-powered software creation.
The round was led by Creaegis, with participation from MNI Ventures-Claypond, Sentinel Global, and existing investors including Khosla Ventures, SoftBank's Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator. With this latest financing, Emergent's total funding has risen to $230 million.
Founded by Mukund Jha and Madhav Jha, the startup builds tools designed for entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized businesses that want to create applications without relying on large technical teams. Emergent says its platform acts like an "engineering team in a box," combining coding with deployment, hosting, testing, and debugging.
The company reports an annual run-rate revenue of $120 million and more than 200,000 paying customers. Its users include trucking firms, factories, construction businesses, and property managers looking to streamline operations with custom software.
Emergent plans to use the new capital to improve product performance, strengthen AI agent workflows, and support more advanced applications, including those built with local and open-source models. It is also expanding its international reach, with growing traction in Europe and a larger San Francisco team on the horizon.
As AI coding platforms mature, Emergent's rise points to a future where building software becomes faster, broader, and more accessible for everyday businesses.
