Dawn Myers' Mint Tool Streamlines Care for Textured Hair

Richualist founder Dawn Myers created Mint, a heated, refillable-pod hair tool designed to detangle, condition and style textured curls in one stroke, cutting wash-day routines to minutes.

Dawn Myers' Mint Tool Streamlines Care for Textured Hair

Dawn Myers founded Richualist to address a gap in beauty tools: products designed specifically for textured and naturally curly hair. Its device, Mint, combines detangling, conditioning and styling in one step.

The tool uses refillable product pods and gently warms their contents before application. Richualist says the process can bring a wash-day styling routine down to about seven to 10 minutes. The company also reports that gentler detangling may reduce shedding and breakage by up to 70%.

A purpose-built approach to hair care

Myers developed the idea after recognizing that many conventional styling tools focus on straightening or reshaping curls, rather than supporting textured hair care. She built early prototypes before working with materials science company Dow, which provided engineering and manufacturing guidance.

Developing Mint took around five years, including research into the needs and routines of people with textured hair. The product is available in a travel size, and Richualist is planning further expansion after strong customer demand.

By combining practical design with a more tailored understanding of different hair types, Mint points to a future where beauty technology serves a wider range of everyday needs.
