David Zwirner Expands Los Angeles Team with Liz Mulholland Appointment

David Zwirner has brought Elizabeth Mulholland on board as senior director for its Los Angeles space, marking a notable move in the gallery's West Coast strategy. Mulholland spent two decades at New York's Andrew Kreps Gallery, where she advanced from director to partner.

Her transition reflects the growing importance of Los Angeles as a contemporary art hub. Zwirner expanded into the city in 2023 with major spaces in East Hollywood and Melrose Hill, adding to an international network that includes New York, London, Paris, and Hong Kong.

Mulholland said she was drawn to the gallery's artist-centered approach and its collaborative culture. In her new role, she will work closely with artists and collectors while joining the LA team already in place.

She also pointed to the city's distinctive creative energy, describing Los Angeles as a place shaped by long-term artist communities and strong institutional support from organizations such as the Getty, MoCA, the Broad, and the Hammer. Her move signals confidence in the city's evolving art ecosystem and its capacity to attract serious collectors.

As major galleries continue to invest in Los Angeles, the city's role in the global art market may become even more influential in the years ahead.
