On Thursday, WordPress introduced a new connector for Claude, allowing site owners to share back-end information with Anthropic's chatbot system. Users have the flexibility to select which specific data they wish to share, and they can revoke access at any time.
Importantly, Claude is granted read-only access, ensuring that it cannot modify any elements within a user's content management system (CMS). However, last year, WordPress indicated that it plans to eventually offer "write" access through its MCP integration, potentially enabling users to perform editorial tasks directly via a connected chatbot of their choice.
Once Claude is linked to an account, users can pose various inquiries regarding the site data it has access to. This includes summarizing the site's monthly web traffic and analyzing which posts have lower user engagement.
WordPress has also released a collection of template prompts for the chatbot, such as "Show me pending comments on my blog," "Which of my sites gets the most traffic?" and "Show me which posts are generating the most discussion." Additional functionalities include comment management and plugin oversight, like "What plugins are installed on my main site?"
