Following the momentum of its record-setting Jim Irsay memorabilia sale, Christie's is turning to one of the world's most recognizable sporting stages: the World Cup. The auction house has announced an online charity sale built around tournament memorabilia and cultural moments tied to the event.
Running from July 22 to July 29, the sale, titled "One Goal: An Auction to Benefit the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund," will feature game-used match balls, team-signed jerseys, and performance costumes linked to artists including Shakira and Coldplay's Chris Martin. All lots will open at $100 and be offered without reserve.
The collection includes the ball from the opening match at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca, the ball used in the final, signed jerseys from Lionel Messi, Santiago Giménez, and the U.S. men's national team, plus outfits connected to the tournament's first halftime show. Shakira's costume from the video for "Dai Dai," the official song of the 2026 World Cup, is also among the highlights.
The proceeds will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million for education and sports programs in underserved communities. Christie's recent memorabilia success suggests strong demand for objects that connect global audiences to shared cultural moments.
With the 2026 World Cup set to be the largest edition yet, the auction reflects how sport, music, and philanthropy can come together in a single global platform. This model may shape how major cultural events inspire future collecting and charitable engagement.
