OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT's shopping capabilities with two new tools designed to make product discovery more personal and organized: virtual try-on and Favorites.
A More Personal Way to Explore Style
Powered by the ChatGPT Images 2.5 model, the virtual try-on feature lets users upload a selfie or full-body image to preview how clothing and accessories may look on them. The tool appears through a "try on" option in shopping results and can also work with an uploaded product image.
The experience is intended to help users move from browsing to better-informed style decisions. ChatGPT can also support outfit planning: users may describe a look they want to create and ask the assistant to identify pieces that complement that style.
Saving Inspiration for Later
The new Favorites feature allows users to save discovered products in a personal Library within the app. Saved items can be revisited later, creating a more streamlined way to compare options and return to fashion ideas without restarting a search.
With these additions, OpenAI is positioning ChatGPT as a more interactive companion for digital shopping, combining visual experimentation, product discovery and personal organization in one space.
As AI becomes more integrated into everyday choices, tools like virtual try-on could make online shopping increasingly creative, intuitive and tailored to individual style.
