Bengaluru's Swish Secures $38 Million in Latest Funding Round

Bengaluru-based food delivery startup Swish raises $38 million in funding, enhancing its rapid delivery service and expanding its market presence.

Bengaluru's Swish Secures $38 Million in Latest Funding Round

Swish, a food delivery startup based in Bengaluru, has successfully raised $38 million in its latest funding round, continuing to attract investor interest for its innovative 10-minute fresh food delivery service. Founded just 18 months ago, this milestone marks Swish's third funding round.

The Series B funding was spearheaded by Hara Global and Bain Capital Ventures, with contributions from Accel, Stride Ventures, and Alteria Capital. Following this round, Swish's valuation has surged to $139 million, more than doubling from the previous year, bringing its total funding to $54 million.

Despite the challenges associated with ultra-fast food delivery in India, Swish has shown remarkable growth. Competing platforms like Swiggy, Zepto, and Zomato have recently scaled back their rapid-delivery services due to operational complexities and rising costs. In contrast, Swish has adopted a full-stack business model, controlling its kitchens, supply chain, and delivery network, which enables it to operate efficiently in densely populated urban areas.

Currently, Swish is processing approximately 20,000 orders daily, a significant increase from around 5,000 just four months ago. The startup is expanding its reach across ten micro-markets in Bengaluru and is investing in kitchen automation to enhance delivery speed and consistency. Co-founder and CEO Aniket Shah emphasized the importance of proximity to customers, stating, "We are very dense, very close to the customer, ensuring that we are able to almost act like a restaurant kitchen, bringing food to your table."

Swish offers an extensive menu of over 200 items, including meals, snacks, and beverages, with average order values ranging between ₹200 to ₹250 (approximately $2-$3). The platform enjoys a loyal customer base, with top users placing orders more than ten times a month, predominantly among young urbanites aged 20 to 35, catering to various meal occasions throughout the day.

Shah has revealed that Swish's earlier kitchen clusters have reached profitability, although specific per-order margins remain undisclosed. Looking ahead, the startup plans to broaden its footprint within Bengaluru and venture into markets such as Delhi-NCR and Mumbai.

While Swish's business model thrives on high-density urban centers and substantial order volumes, the future will reveal whether investor confidence is well-placed, especially as larger competitors have retreated from their rapid-delivery initiatives.
