Bain Capital Ventures has introduced a new $1.6 billion fund, expanding its capacity to support startups shaping the next generation of artificial intelligence. The fund, the firm's 11th, is 14% larger than its previous vehicle.
The investment strategy centers on a future in which advanced AI agents can handle a broad range of tasks with human-level capability. Bain Capital Ventures plans to back both the companies applying these systems and the infrastructure needed to operate them efficiently at scale.
Infrastructure, health and physical AI
The firm identifies several priority areas for the emerging "post-AGI" landscape: computing infrastructure, healthcare, physical AI and digital security. Its goal is to support technologies that make AI computing more accessible and cost-efficient for businesses and consumers.
Among its existing investments is Crusoe, a data center developer that Bain Capital Ventures first backed in 2019. The company represents the type of infrastructure platform the firm sees as essential for meeting growing demand for AI computing capacity.
Healthcare is another key focus, reflecting the potential for AI to improve research, diagnostics and operational efficiency. The fund will also explore security solutions designed for increasingly autonomous digital systems, alongside physical AI technologies that connect intelligent software with real-world environments.
Early-stage support with broader resources
Bain Capital Ventures expects to invest in approximately 30 to 40 companies, primarily from seed stage through Series B. The firm's model often brings multiple partners into a single investment, aiming to provide founders with broader operating expertise and sustained collaboration.
Through its connection to Bain Capital, the venture firm can also offer support beyond equity financing, including access to debt structures, infrastructure partnerships and relationships across established industries.
