ArtCut Exhibition Series Explores Human Creativity in the Age of AI

Seven exhibitions bring empathy and art into focus

The Vatican's inaugural Catholic Universities Art Triennale, known as ArtCut, is bringing together more than 100 artists for seven exhibitions at Catholic universities across Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Italy, Portugal, Angola and the United States.

Presented under the theme Exercises in Empathy, the series considers qualities such as empathy and self-reflection as central to human growth. Artists featured include Arthur Jafa, Jeremy Frey and Mona Hatoum.

Commissioned by Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, prefect of the Holy See's Dicastery for Culture and Education, the exhibitions explore physical and intellectual dimensions of human experience. The project also considers how human creativity relates to the rapid development of artificial intelligence.

By connecting artists and university communities across several countries, ArtCut may contribute to future conversations about how technology and human creativity can develop alongside one another.
