Anthropic's AI Ecosystem Deepens Its Hold on Enterprise Customers

Anthropic's SEC filing reveals how Claude models, developer tools and workplace apps are driving wider adoption among enterprise customers and shaping its AI growth strategy.

Anthropic's AI Ecosystem Deepens Its Hold on Enterprise Customers

Anthropic's public-market filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission outlines how the company is expanding its reach inside businesses: connecting its Claude models, developer platform and workplace apps into a single ecosystem.

More than half of Anthropic's customers spending at least $100,000 a year now use both the Claude platform and a company-built app, such as Claude Code or Cowork. That share was about 30% at the end of last year. As of September 30, the company counted more than 11,900 customers spending at least $100,000 annually, including over 1,900 spending more than $1 million.

Anthropic says broader use of Claude across organizations helped drive net revenue retention to about 900% by the end of the third quarter. Its filing describes a model in which advances to its AI models, developer tools and applications reinforce one another, encouraging customers to expand their use over time.

The filing also highlights the potential value of Claude Code within large organizations. In the third quarter, the highest-spending 5% of Claude Enterprise customers using the coding tool spent around 20 times more per month than the average enterprise user who did not use it.

To support adoption, Anthropic's Applied AI teams help businesses integrate Claude into existing technology systems. The company has also partnered with Blackstone and other private-equity firms on Ode with Anthropic, an initiative that places engineers with businesses to develop custom AI tools. Cloud providers AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure help distribute Claude through joint sales arrangements.

Anthropic's approach reflects a broader shift from standalone software toward connected AI tools that can serve different teams across a company. If businesses continue adopting these products together, integrated AI ecosystems could become a defining layer of future workplace technology.
