Anthropic is expanding its AI offerings with Claude Duet, an agent designed to help professionals and small businesses organize work and automate tasks. Rather than focusing on personal errands, the app can prepare daily briefings, build dashboards and recommend next steps using a user's data.
Duet can work in the background through a virtual machine while users focus on other tasks, then request approval when needed. Anthropic says it can proactively surface suggestions as it monitors ongoing work. The agent is built on Claude Opus 5.5 and connects to more than 6,000 integrations and plugins through Claude Marketplace.
Designed with user approval in mind
The agent can make online purchases using Stripe Link or Shopify Shop Pay, but sensitive actions such as payments require user approval. It cannot trade securities or transfer money between accounts. Anthropic also says a new classifier checks messages for potential sensitive-information leaks, and that Duet will decline requests for credit card numbers or government identification by default.
Claude Duet is available in research preview to Pro and Max customers through iOS, Android and Claude.ai. Users must join a waitlist to try it.
As AI tools move from answering prompts to carrying out tasks, work-focused agents like Duet could make routine business workflows more adaptive, while keeping human approval central to consequential actions.
