YouTube TV's multiview feature has evolved significantly, particularly benefiting sports enthusiasts. This functionality enables users to simultaneously watch up to four live streams and switch between them seamlessly, enhancing the viewing experience during exciting moments. Initially launched during the March Madness event in 2023, the multiview was limited to specific channel combinations. However, YouTube has recently announced that a fully customizable multiview option is now rolling out to select subscribers.

The newly customizable multiview allows viewers to select channels from various content categories, breaking free from the constraints of solely sports or news channels. Users can now combine sports networks that were previously incompatible, which is generating excitement among fans. Additionally, the flexibility to choose between two to four streams means users can tailor their viewing experience, omitting channels they have no interest in.
In a recent test, I experimented with different combinations, such as ESPN, CNN, NFL Live, and TNT, followed by a mix of the Golf Channel, AMC, Fox Sports, and the SEC Network. Although I encountered a minor issue with a local news channel that displayed a "video unavailable" error, the overall experience was positive. For sports fans, this feature is particularly advantageous during busy seasons like college basketball and football, where multiple games air simultaneously across various networks.
Utilizing YouTube TV's Multiview
To create a custom multiview, users should start by opening a livestream in full screen, then press the down button on their remote or tap the player on mobile devices. From there, selecting Multiview will allow users to choose up to four live programs from different categories, including sports, news, movies, and more. YouTube TV also offers recommendations for streams. To modify the selected channels, users can simply press the down button again and choose Change multiview > Your multiview, making it easy to adjust their viewing preferences.
